Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 August 2026
This document is provided in good faith to clearly explain how Crumbbook works and what
you're agreeing to. It has not been reviewed by a solicitor. If you have specific legal concerns,
please seek independent advice.
1. Who we are
Crumbbook ("we", "us", "the app") is a personal recipe-organiser web app, operated by
Owen Spencer as an individual. You can reach us at
owenspencer44@gmail.com or via the "Help & Support"
option inside the app.
2. What the service is
Crumbbook lets you create an account, organise your own recipes into pages, generate and
scan recipes using AI, estimate nutrition, plan meals on a weekly calendar, and generate shopping
lists. A free tier is available with limited AI use; a one-time paid unlock (currently £4.99,
valid for 12 months) increases your weekly AI allowance.
3. Your account
- You must provide a real, working email address and keep your password secure.
- You're responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately if you believe
your account has been accessed without your permission — the app has a "sign out other devices"
option for exactly this.
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- One account per person. Don't share your login with others.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for anything illegal, or to store/generate content that's illegal, hateful,
or infringes someone else's rights.
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, security measures, or payment requirements.
- Use automated tools to scrape, abuse, or overload the service.
- Reverse-engineer, resell, or attempt to extract the underlying code or AI prompts of the
service.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
5. AI-generated content
Recipe generation, nutrition estimates, photo scanning, and shopping-list consolidation are
powered by an AI model (currently Google's Gemini). This content is generated automatically and
is best-effort, not verified by a human. In particular:
- Nutrition estimates are approximations for general tracking purposes, not medical or dietary
advice — don't rely on them for allergy management, medical conditions, or clinical nutrition
decisions.
- AI-scanned or AI-generated recipes may contain errors in quantities, timings, or ingredients.
Use your own judgement, especially around food safety (cooking temperatures, allergens, storage
times).
- We're not liable for outcomes resulting from following AI-generated content without your own
judgement applied.
6. Payments
- The paid unlock is a one-time payment, not a recurring subscription — it does
not auto-renew, and you won't be charged again unless you deliberately purchase another unlock
after the current one expires.
- Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Because this unlocks digital content/access immediately upon payment, you acknowledge and
agree that your standard UK right to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days does not apply
once the unlock has been applied to your account, in line with the Consumer Contracts
Regulations 2013.
- Refunds outside of that are considered case-by-case — contact support if something's gone
wrong.
7. Your content
You own the recipes, notes, and other content you add to your cookbook. We don't claim ownership
of it. By using the service, you give us permission to store and process that content solely to
provide the app's features to you (e.g. saving it, running it through the AI features you
trigger, including it in a shopping list you generate).
If you use the "Share" feature to send a recipe to someone else, you're choosing to make that
specific recipe's content accessible via a link — that's a deliberate action on your part, not
something we do automatically.
8. Service availability
We aim to keep the service running reliably but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. The
service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We
may update, change, or discontinue features over time.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising
from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for things that can't
legally be limited, such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. If we make material changes, we'll do our best to
let existing users know (e.g. via a notice in the app). Continuing to use the service after
changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
